The tools that you will need for repairing the Xbox 360 3 red lights flashing: 1 eraser (rubber), 1 very tiny probe or a tiny screwdriver, 1 double sided adhesive tape, a T8 screwdriver for the removal of the internal screws of the Xbox 360, a T10 screwdriver for the removal of the internal chassis from the case. If the tools mentioned are not available at home, it can be bought at any hardware store.
One solution on how to get rid of the problem is to disassemble your Xbox 360. Remove all the screws and the parts by closely inspecting all the sides for screws. Place the box on your lap in an upside down position. After which, insert the middle and index finger into the slot holes of the memory. For leverage, your thumb can be placed at the bottom for support, with a steady force, pulling the face plate off. It should be able to snap right off.
Next, take a look under the face plate. Break the seal sticker of Microsoft. You might want to have it checked in the store where you bought it if your Xbox is still under warranty.
Then, flip your Xbox 360 on its side for a closer look at the holes found on top and bottom of both sides. If you notice, some of these holes are not empty. This is because the holes with fills are keeping the plastic pieces in grey on the bottom and top to keep the Xbox snuggly in place. You will need a pointed object to remove the top and bottom pieces in grey.
A grey plastic tab can be seen in the holes, use the probe to remove the grey top and bottom cover. Each of the top and bottom has total of six covers per piece, three clips or tabs per side. Use the rubber pad to remove the top grey piece
Remove the cover by pushing the notch until you hear a clicking side. After the cover has been removed, remove everything that is screwed or attached to the mother board. You need to expose the four IC chips and remove the sticky stuff placed above it. Replace the rubber pads on top of the chips by using a double faced tape.
Assemble your Xbox. Return all the things you have removed according to how you disassembled then switch it on. At this point, you will still see the Xbox 360 3 red lights flashing but don't' be disappointed. Just leave it for 20 minutes with the Xbox 360 3 red lights flashing. After which, turn it off. After two minutes these should be green again.
